This is the day
that we got the brakes replaced on the GTi. In between the last
update and this one, we replaced the fuel filter, air filter,
oil, oil filter, and spark plugs. I also asked Ben to clean
out the ISV as we thought that could be the reason that it was
not running properly. Well, whenever Ben was putting the ISV
back after cleaning it, he noticed that there were quite a few
vacuum hoses that were not plugged in. We put in the clean ISV
and plugged in the hoses and it starts and runs just fine now.
Being that the car seemed to be running fine, I took it out
for a spin. The brakes needed to be replaced and bled really
bad so that is what we did on this day. We replaced the pads
all the way around. We did not get to bleed the brakes today
but that will come soon.
While driving the car I did notice that the clutch was also
slipping pretty bad. We will be buying a clutch for it pretty
soon so that we can get this bad boy on the road driving reliably
soon. It is also going to need some CV axles as the ones that
are on it right now are cracked and messed up. One more thing
we did notice, that the seal on the bottom of the transmission
is broken and it is leaking transmission fluid. We will need
to replace that whenever we do the cluch as well. Should be
fun, stay with us for the updates! |
