____First years for shows are always great. They keep you guessing how it's going to turn out, how many cars are going to show, the organization, the venue, etc. Well this one definitely exceeded everyone's expectations. There was a modest showing of around 40 cars but what a beautiful location and setting for this car show. This show will be repeated for years to come on the third Sunday of September every year; at least that's the plan. So mark it on your calendars because the show was not only in the perfect location close to the Riverwalk and at the base of the Towers of Americas, but the cars that came out were simply amazing.
____Walking around and taking pictures like I always do, me and Josh were talking about the possible contenders for the Best of Show award. We both came to the conclusion there could be an argument made for at least 5-6 cars at the show that deserved the top honor. Javier and his beautiful restored M6 ended up coming out on top and rightfully deserved; but that's not to say that practically every car there had an immense amount of detail put into the cars. Now, I have to admit that not every car at the show was everyone's taste, but regardless of that fact, every owner brought what they thought would win them trophies and we applaud that. Owning a car is more than just doing the mods that everyone will like, but doing what fits your personality best.
____Like I said earlier, this is by far the best location for a car show I have ever been to. Usually you are parked in an asphalt parking lot with no shade, no where to eat, no where to get drinks, and burning your butt off till the show ends. Well this show was at the base of the Tower of America's and had not only a lot of shade, but a ton of things to do. The Riverwalk was a short walk away, there was plenty of vendors selling food and drinks, and even great scenery all the way around for you to indulge in. You could even park your car, go downtown then just return for the end of the show and still be satisfied with how the day turned out. We look forward to helping the promoters of the show full up the space with as many cars as possible in the future.
So stay tuned for next year because it's going to be well worth it to make it to this one!
