New post MKIII Jetta Build Thread...
Getting a cheap car definitely has its advantages. My overall plans for the Jetta are low-ness, loud-ness, and dependability. With that being said, NO I WILL NOT BE DOING A TURBO!!! Here are some of the things that are in store for the Jetta...

All new coolant system with 42DD crack pipe, Samco Hoses, water pump, couplers, and thermostat. Also, new belt, SAI plug, and 42DD Inline Vaccuum Kit.

I already installed the new components in the door and rear deck, however, the door speakers are going to be redone on Mod/Detail day. Inaddtion, I will be getting a Infinity Kappa Five Amp to power all the components as well as the Infinity Perfect 12.1 Sub. Here's what I got so far...

The headunit is a Sony DSX-S300BTX...

Eventually, oil pressure, oil temp, and water temp gauges will take over the stereo's place and the stereo will be mounted in the top glove box (that will replace the airbag that is currently there. And last, I acquired this bad boy from a very generous fella, and after a healthy charge, I think it is ready to go in.

That is all I have for now. I am hoping the Porsche wheels will sell soon and then I will be looking at skid plate, Konis, suspension rebuild, and a new horn  See you guys on Mod/Detail Day!!!

Just going to throw it in a sealed box and put it in the trunk.

Don, what is "semi-period"? :-?

it was a joke, like a period audio system is one thats aftermarket but put together with speakers/subs that were available when the car was new

Got it Don, and yes, it is a period stereo. Infinity is timeless.

And no SC either, not for a few years at least.

Ooh, ooh, Josh! Is this the model with a top glove box only? Want to mod in a bottom box? I have two of them. You'll have to either cut the lower dash support a bit, or run to the yard and grab the entire lower support from one with a box. Maux's had no glove box at all, so I grabbed a couple to modify it. Needless to say, I no longer have access to that car. Oh the time spent making that thing low and fun. :(

Imagine if I would have sold my car for what I wanted. I would have gotten polished hard lines for the coolant and a butt plug integrated in the driver's seat.

What was the black matting over the back speakers for? Just a substitute for a cover?

I have the covers, but with the rear window not tinted, I don't want the speakers just sitting there waiting to be stolen. So I used the matting to cover them til I get it tinted.

Let's take a break for a minute away from the Jetta...

So I had been trying to sell the GTI for a couple of months when I found my buyer and a great new home (start your build thread Cam). Here she is leaving with Cam.

Image
Untitled by wolf18t, on Flickr

With the GTI sold (as well as the Van), we found the perfect car for the perfect price...

I quickly bought a new Sony DSX-S310BT, some 6.5" JBLs for the rear, 4" JBLs for the front and then added an Infinity Bass-Link for a little punch....

Also installed some new engine mounts, courtesy of BFI as well as some spacers to raise the motor up.

Fronts right after...

A little impromptu mod day, finally as low as I should be....

And a skid plate. I know you did the oil pan a while back but I couldn't see if you put the orange RTV in there. Did you? If not, is it leaking at all?

I just used black RTV, and it hasn't leaked a drop.

And yes, skid plate is on the way as soon as they get some in stock.

Yes, make a build thread. Good to get input from other peeps on stuff. And to track your progress.

And Josh, we gotta fix that birds nest of a trunk next weekend.
