Let me get this right......So..it has a bad engine and a Salvage title? Is so,it is not going to sell for the asking price of $3,500. I would adjust it to $1,000-$1,500 max. Good luck on the sale.

Good luck on the sale. I really expected the BS sooner, but thanks for stepping up. The transmission, alone, is worth more than your offers, but I understand that since you cant afford to give a informed opinion, you resort to degrading comments. Please refrain, I know its asking alot, but try. The car has had plenty of interest, AS IS, and your comments only make you look ignorant. I have been honest about the flaws of the BMW so that an informed, intelligent, and courteous buyer who appreciates the E39 chassis, can get a great deal. I know that this place, much like the poortex, has its share of ignorant individuals, perhaps you should try to adhere to the rules and regs of this site and not be another sheep.

Although somewhat true, maybe you would be better off parting it out then. For a normal person to go and get an engine and have it installed, you would be looking at $3000 roughly. So now the cars price is up to $6500. Other cars in the same range go between 5-7k so its in the range, but with less work. If the car was in perfect shape everywhere else, then this would not be to bad of a deal. If the car does have a salvage title, then this deal is crap. Sorry man, but most people wont tough salvage. I have a parts car that i bought for cheap and have parted out and yes i do realize what transmissions go for and what not. I happen to work at a euro shop and that is why i threw out that number becuase i know the work that it takes to bring a car back from the dead.

I happen to work at a euro shop and that is why i threw out that number becuase i know the work that it takes to bring a car back from the dead. There is a complete 2.8L at a local BMW salvage yard for $1000. Thats $4500, and lets say $500 in consumables. So if your mechanically inclined and want a nice car, for $5000 you can have it. We could go back and forth on the "what if" scenarios, but the truth is someone can get a great looking car, well kept, no excessive wear etc for a great price. And if a car with a salvage title is keeping you away, your welcome to come see it first, then comment. Unfortunately insurance companies will devalue your car any way possible, and this is a clear case of that. If I had full coverage on any of my Rabbits, and damaged a fender beyond repair, the car would be totaled. Its stupid how they can salvage/total/value a car now adays. And I understand that everyone wants a "mint" car for free, but unfortunately reality is hard on some people, this car, much like other cars that are used, has its flaws. I know its crazy, a used car that has paint chips, but thats life. So in the condition, as is, the car is valued at what its worth, to me and most sane people. but I see that its not up to your standards of cheap. Basically what I reminding you is that this is not your house, you don't get to do/say what you want, because there is moderation. And your comments thus far, have been inflamatory and misleading, so plainly put, STAY OFF THIS THREAD. No I dont have any threats for you, nor will I try to degrade you, all I ask is that you go piss up another flag pole. I didn't ask for your "expert euro shop" comments, nor do I care for them. Regardless of your comments the car will be sold. And the buyer will be aware of the issues the car has, and he will appreciate that I am not full of crap. So that being said, the first $500 takes it! Right...........

I said that the car has a salvage title and that other cars are going in that range if you factor in the price of an engine. I also stated that if everything else was in really good shape that this would be in the price range of a clean title car. I guess if you get offended by that then so be it. lol. Anywase, good luck to you and the buyer.
